Hear from some of our team members to get an insight into life at SLLP.

"The South London Legal partnership offers a very professional service. They are flexible , adaptable, responsive and supportive in their approach. They offer a timely service to our frontline teams and ensure cases are dealt with by experienced staff. IT is a pleasure to work with them."

Alison Twynam, Director of Children's Social Care

"As a member of the SLLP Governance Board we are committed to ensuring we are delivering the very best legal services at the lowest possible cost to our council and other public sector and not for profit customers. We work to attract the very best staff, growing and supporting our own talent, and being at the forefront of legal practice and innovation in the public sector. As one of the largest shared legal service practices in the country, we benefit from the scale needed to retain expertise across many specialist areas of law whist retaining the ethos of an in-house practice, with its focus on client satisfaction, partnership working and above all, value for money."

Jon Evans, Assistant Chief Executive at Richmond and Wandsworth Councils

"I am a Lawyer within the Dispute Resolution & Compliance Team, specialising in civil and commercial litigation and judicial review. I transferred to SLLP at the end of 2016 as a Legal Assistant in the Child Care Team as part of the merge with Wandsworth Legal Services. Since then, I successfully completed my training contract at SLLP and qualified as a Solicitor in May 2020 and I was appointed to my current role in June 2020.

SLLP is a great place to work as it offers flexibility in working arrangements allowing a good work/life balance, such as the 9-day fortnight scheme. The organisation encourages professional development by providing a variety of training opportunities, and encourages staff to have direct input in decision-making and changes to the organisation through dedicated task-groups. I have a varied workload and as a junior lawyer, there is also the benefit of a wealth of experienced lawyers with a breadth of knowledge to call upon and to learn from.

The main reason I have stayed at SLLP is the people. I have spent time in each of the departments getting to know a variety of people at all levels and I enjoy working with colleagues who make work life fun and interesting and who are always willing to offer their support. For me that makes all the difference."

Lizzy Okunola, Dispute Resolution & Compliance Team

“SLLP have a wide range of skills from all across the local government legal spectrum within their ranks. Their experience and knowledge is highly impressive, and they are always a pleasure to work with.”

Simon Kiely, Legal Director for Sharpe Pritchard LLP

"SLLP, and in particular their procurement lawyers, are extremely knowledgeable in regard to the Public Sector Procurement Regulations and associated legislation. Having a strong and close working relationship with SLLP has proven invaluable."

Dawn Jolley BSc MCIPS, Head of Commercial Services

"I have been regularly instructed by SLLP since June 2018 in complex cases. The Instructions from SLLP have been of the highest quality; i.e. they identify the core issues and explain the relevant background and the evolution of the case. The lawyers at SLLP are interested and involved in their cases and make time for dialogue with Counsel they instruct. This saves time and helps achieves the best outcome for their clients. I am always pleased to receive a new set of instructions from SLLP.”

Nicholas Grundy QC

"Managing the effective delivery of complex public services brings with it the constant need to assess and manage risk, and my relationship with SLLP is critical to me and my service. Our call upon the expertise of the Legal Partnership varies from integrated project support and delivery to more urgent matters when more immediate support is needed. The SLLP have never let me or my service down."

Glenn Phillips, Head of Community Safety Services, London Borough of Sutton

"Having worked with a number of the team at SLLP on some important cases I cannot speak more highly of them. The team are knowledgeable and highly competent. Not only do they manage complicated litigation but understand the nuances of court practice and procedure. I have only praise for SLLP and the high calibre of all who work there."

Stephen Woolf, Hardwicke Chambers

"The South London Legal Partnership (SLLP) have been very helpful and supportive to the Richmond and Wandsworth Community Safety Service with detailed technical support around the implementation of the a Public Spaces Protection Order(PSPO) in Rosslyn Road to protection vulnerable women from harassment, the two borough wide PSPOs for Richmond and Wandsworth respectively and more recently the detailed review of the statutory requirements around an effective Community Trigger process. The partnership are always available for advice over key powers and provide timely updates. Other areas where we have benefitted from their knowledge are the use of Community Protection Notices and Civil Injunctions to help resolve complex cases. If you need detailed and technical legal support then I recommend them."

Daryl Edmunds, Neighbourhoods and Criminal Justice (Strategic) Manager, (Community Safety Manager) for Richmond and Wandsworth Councils.

"I am always impressed by the quality, dedication, and legal knowledge of SLLP’s teams of lawyers. Byron Britton and Amrita Chuhan, for example, are both exceptional lawyers with impeccable judgment with whom it is always an absolute pleasure to work."
